EGR Pressure Transducer

The EGR pressure sensor is the mechanism that detects the flow of exhaust gas through the EGR valve. Mechanical EGR valve position sensors are mounted on top of the EGR valve. The sensor shall be able to detect changes in the EGR system. It shall regulate the pressure of the EGR system in combination with the EGR valve. When the EGR pressure feedback sensor detects that the EGR pressure is low, it opens the EGR valve to increase the flow rate and vice versa closes the valve if it detects that the pressure is too high.

When should the EGR pressure sensor be replaced?

It is recommended that the EGR valve is checked regularly and the driver is informed of any faults with the EGR valve and sensor by a light on the dashboard. A faulty EGR sensor can cause emissions problems, as well as engine performance problems and send false readings to the computer.
