Propshaft

Propshaft

The propshaft is connected to the rear trasmission on the rear axle of the car. The driveshaft is a rather complex part of the car, whose function is to transmit rotational energy through the entire structure of the car. The universal joint has five components: the front clutch, the shaft, the rear flange and two U-joints. The CV joints are made of steel and balanced to prevent vibrations that could damage the transmission shaft, the U-joint or the flange.

When should I replace the propshaft?

The universal joint shaft needs to be checked at regular intervals, which is very important for safety and driving comfort. When parts of the universal joint wear out and need to be replaced, this will help to make the car safer. The most common items that need to be replaced are the CV joint rubber, the special shaft seals at both ends of the shaft and the U-joints.
