Turbocharger

Turbocharger

The turbine, or turbocharger, is driven by the exhaust gases, and the turbine is connected to the compressor by a shaft, pumping air into the engine to make it run more efficiently. The engine's exhaust gas turns the turbine, which turns the compressor at the opposite end of the assembly with a shaft. The latter delivers an increased volume of air to the combustion chamber of the engine. The turbine not only improves the engine's torque and power, but also distributes fuel consumption economically.

When should you replace the turbine?

The turbine must be regularly maintained and replaced if it fails. The most common causes of turbine failure are oil contamination or leakage, imbalance, wear, corrosion and excessive exhaust gas temperature. The most common signs of turbine failure are a reduction in the power output of the car and strange coloured exhaust gases.
